What Surgery did to our last patient (Part 2)
Hello
As we are the only place to go for pain, we sadly see all the time how surgery did more harm than good.
How it made their pain worse and not better. And sadly, how the person can do less now than they could before the surgery.
This time I was to talk about neck surgery.
We had a client come to us several months ago. He had neck surgery several years ago to decompress a nerve that was being pinched. However, he now has unbearable pain that no pills can take away.
His neck is constantly painful. He cannot do anything with his arms above his head like putting the dishes away or replace light bulbs.
He couldn’t carry anything as that would cause his neck to go into spasm for weeks. Not even helping his wife carry the groceries from the car to the kitchen.
Worst of all, he had to give up his passion. Road cycling riding. After the surgery, every time he went riding his neck would get so painful so quickly that he had to decide, do I want less pain, even though I won’t get to do what makes me happy?
He chose less pain.
Sadly, what people don’t realize or are not told is that surgery, even when it is absolutely necessary, causes permanent damage to the body.
This permanent harm cannot be fixed or resolved.
Even if it makes the problem better, it will cause all sorts of other problems, even causing the original problem to come back.
I feel that when people decide to have surgery is should always be the very last option.
In his case, the neck pain and pinched nerves returned with a vengeance after his surgery.
My personal view is surgery should always be done to save lives, repair damage from accidents and deformities.
Never for pain.
It only makes it worse.
