The financial cost of having back pain

January 17, 20232 min read

Hello

With all the patients we see with severe back pain, hearing how much they spend we knew it was a costly disease to have.

Worse still, with so few effective solutions, more money is paid to manage a problem that will just get worse regardless.

Worse means even more to pay.

In this study, from Switzerland, they looked at how much it costs on the healthcare system to manage people with lower back pain (LBP), which is a direct reflection of how much it costs you to have a problem that is managed and not fixed.

The study is called “Characteristics andhealth care costsin patients with a diagnostic imaging for low back pain in Switzerland.”

This is what it found “costs for LBP patients were 72% higher compared with the costs of no LBP patients. “

72% higher!! My goodness. I can only imagine how much more that translates for you.

“The individual costs for analgesic drugs, during the index year, ranged from 105.10 CHF (94.59 EUR), for patients with X-ray, to 193.67 CHF (174.30 EUR) for patient with X-ray and CT. The costs for additional drugs in the index year ranged from 157.96 CHF (142.16 EUR), for patients with MRI, to 207.99 CHF (187.19 EUR) for patients with X-ray and CT. Costs for medical services were lowest in the X-ray group and highest in the CT group: 1602.78 CHF (1442.50 EUR) vs 2698.29 CHF (2428.46 EUR)”

The longer you have had the issue, the more complicated it will becomeand the more money you will spend on medication, x rays and other tests.

The longer your back pain is managed and not fixed, the more it will cost you.

We do not manage problems but fix them.

Do you want to turn off the tap of your back pain’s costs to your wallet?
