Silent rotator cuff tears are common in…..
Hello
This weak I am going to talk to you about rotator cuff tears and how common they are based on age.
A rotator cuff tear is a common shoulder injury that leads to more serious shoulder problems as they persist. They can lead to people not being able to lift their arms at all.
Worse still, use their hands in any meaningful way.
A rotator cuff tear is a sign that the whole shoulder isn’t working properly. Like how your tears wear too much on one side because the wear alignment is out.
They can also be completely silent, slowly getting worse until they cause a serious problem.
That is why this researcher wanted to look at who was likely to develop them and what age, so something can be done about it.
They found that Rotator cuff tears increase with age.
They also found a “Nearly 3 fold increase in asymptomatic rotator cuff full-thickness tears in older women”.
Full-thickness tears mean, it is torn the whole way through. Completely torn apart.
They found that full-thickness tears were least common at 9% but the lesser severe tears were far more common.
Small, medium and large tears were 60%, 20% and 20% of cases.
We have seen time and time again that this problem is never a new one. It is always an older problem that gets worse and worse over time until the person is finally forced to do something about it.
Like the dog that was never trained not to run out when you take him for a walk, finally gets free when the gate is open and gets hit by a car.
We don’t want your shoulder problem to turn into some irreparable mess.
