Is back pain the next pandemic?
I found this out as I was inundated with calls from people complaining of back pain and referencing what they think caused it as “I think it’s all the sitting I’m doing because I am working from home.’
I wondered about it and it made a lot of sense. With the lockdown so many people were confined to their homes.
Working from home for many people is a new thing, this is where the problem arises from. That is why so many now have back pain and why Back pain is the next pandemic. As we all know that sitting too long cause back pain.
I think it’s for one simple reason. When you work from home you don’t need to get up and ask a colleague a question, go to a meeting, get up and have lunch or worst case scenario walk quite a distance outside to have a smoke. Yes, smoking is bad, but at least you had to walk somewhere to have one during a workday.
When you at home everything is close, you can sit at a desk and do everything from it. No wonder so many people are coming in complaining of back pain. If you only spend 30 minutes out of a chair in an entire day it is no surprise that it causes problems.

You have back pain, you suspect it is from sitting so long while working from home, these are the first things you should do about your back pain.
Get up from your chair every 45 minutes without exception.Simple to do, easy to make a habit. Use an alarm if you must. Get up walk around for a few minutes every 45 minutes.
Movement is the best DIY way of managing back pain. Movement is king. Get up walking around, be active on your feet throughout the day, the more you do it the better your back pain should feel. Does not matter what movement you do, be it exercise or walking the dog, it is effective. Do a lot in little bits rather than all at once and nothing the rest of the day.
Get help been a few weeks or months that you have had back pain, you have tried everything including what is in this article. You are still not better. At that point, I want you to do something about it. If it would have gotten better, you would feel better.
Do not wait any longer. New back pain is easier to fix. Once you have had back pain for years, its no longer just back pain. It is back pain, muscle spasms, pinched nerves, bulging discs, weakness and atrophy. It is complicated.
When Almost all the people that come and see me, they say, I wish I came to you sooner. Do not become one of those people that wished they had done something about their back pain sooner.
