Fibromyalgia: The most common problem they have
Hello
We have helped so many people rid themselves of pain, even the really difficult ones like fibromyalgia.
As we have seen so many of them we know what is common problems that always seem to come with fibromyalgia-like a bad smell with an overflowing bin.
This week I want to tell you about the most common problem, Psychiatric disorders.
The study that I found reinforces what we already knew, That “There are mounting data supporting comorbidity of fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) and psychiatric conditions. These include depression, panic disorders, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).”
Even though they go on to say “The nature of the relationship between depression and FMS is not fully understood, and it was hypothesized that chronic pain causes depression or vice versa, and that chronic pain syndrome is variants of depression.”
This makes perfect sense on the surface but there are a few things we have noticed that help to explain why better.
When you have been in pain for a long time you will naturally stop doing what you loved to do so you can avoid any possibility that will cause the pain to get worse. You avoid going to the gym, shopping, going out with friends and family, and eventually stop spending time with people altogether.
Every time your pain comes when you are visiting friends, playing sports or just going shopping, you become a little bit more fearful and decide “ maybe I shouldn’t go today, I don’t want to have a bad pain day”. So every time you get invited out or have to go somewhere, you become a little more anxious.
Every time your pain flares up, you become even more anxious
The more you do this the more you isolate yourself from your family and friends and stop doing the things you love, the more depressed you get.
So the spiral continues of avoiding doing things that are good for you to not make the pain worse leads to you feeling more depressed and anxious so you do less.
When you are very deep in that hole, it is very difficult to get anyone out of it.
Are you ready to get help to pull yourself out?
