Carpal tunnel syndrome: What treatments work?

January 20, 20221 min read

Hello!

We see so many people with Carpal tunnel syndrome, so we know all the things our clients go through, that has not worked, before they come in to see us.

What we wanted to know is what does the medical community think about what works and what does not?

Let us look at what this published article has to say.

This study looked at and reviewed the results of several studies all looking at different treatments and their effectiveness.

Here are the outcomes:

  1. Locally injected steroids produce a significant but temporary improvement,

  2. Vitamin B6 is ineffective

  3. Steroids are better than non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and diuretics, but they can produce side-effects

  4. Ultrasound is effective while laser therapy shows variable results

  5. Exercise therapy is not effective

  6. Botulinum toxin B injections are ineffective.

Effective in this context is decreasing the pain level. Not getting rid of the problem permanently.

From these results, it looks like you are either going to need injections forever, take steroids forever and endure those side effects or go in weekly or however often is recommended for ultrasound treatments.

Sounds like you might have this problem forever if you keep putting a bucket under this leaking roof of a problem.

Do you want to try something different?
