Back Pain: Why a see how it goes approach very rarely works

If waiting until next week worked, i would have worked 3 weeks ago.

Hey all

This week I got an interesting message from a concerned wife. She is worried about your husband as he has awfully bad back pain and contacted me to see if I can help him. She does not want him to suffer from his back pain anymore.

When I asked to speak to the husband his response was “I am going to take these meds and see how it goes”.

His wife later told me that he has been suffering from this same back pain for over six months. A “See how it goes” approach might have been a good idea when the back pain first started. But its been six months. If it could have worked, it would have.

This kind of see how it goes approach does not work for three simple reasons.
1. You wait too long to get the right kind of help.

The truth is, if you are not better in a few weeks, or in those few weeks, you are progressively getting worse. Waiting another week is unlikely to change things for the better. If the problem could be resolved it would be better in a week or two. If it is not, then you need to start taking it more seriously.

It could be something that needs professional help.

You are not taking it seriously enough
There are many things you cannot buy with money and one is good health. This kind of health problems needs to be taken seriously for two reasons.

The longer you wait the more complicated and difficult it to fix a problem becomes.
Simple problems that are often quick and easy to address when they are new. As we wait, put them off until next week they complicate and become extremely hard to address the longer you wait to get help. By complicated I mean other problems develop as a result of having back pain.

For example. It may start with muscle spasm. The longer you wait the more likely it will become many muscle spasms, a pinched nerve and a disc problem.
It may start off with being just one problem. The longer you wait, the longer the list of problems become.

You needlessly suffer longer than you must.
Think of this poor husband. He has been suffering from this back pain for six months now. Why?? Had he just gone and gotten help sooner he would have been better sooner.

Why suffer longer than you need to?
Your wife will get sick of you complaining
Hey! It’s true. After the 100th time, she tried to help you. Give you massages and all the other lovely stuff and you still have not gotten any help??
You will be sleeping on the couch and eating off paper plates in no time if you keep this up.

If a “see how it goes” approach has not worked by now, it probably will not.
Are you ready to try something different? A more effective solution.
