3 of the worst things to do for Back pain

Hello

This week I am going to tell you the 3 of the worst ways to manage back pain. Some of them might even well-known advice that is doing the opposite of what it meant to.

  1. Rest more

I know. The first thing everyone does for back pain is to find a comfortable position and rest.

This makes perfect sense for the first time you had back pain. Even more so when there was a specific event that caused the pain.

However, when your back pain keeps on coming back out of the blue. Nothing seems to have caused it this time, and every time it comes back it gets worse is different. More rest will cause more issues. It’ll make you weaker, less able to do things and weaken your back even further

Ironically you should move more and rest less…

  1. Take more anti-inflammatories

When your back is hurt after lifting something heavy that you really shouldn’t have, taking an anti-inflammatory for a short while would make sense. To decrease the “inflammation”.

The problem with that thinking is that inflammation is actually good. It is the natural process by which the body heals itself. IF you have been injured, taking anti-inflammatories is like blocking the fire trucks way on the way to put out a burning building.

It impairs our bodies ability to heal effectively.

If your pain came out of nowhere, no injury or anything, taking an anti-inflammatory will do nothing for you other than exposing yourself to the side effects of this medication without any potential upside.

If you keep taking it, when you don’t need to, you will end up with severe problems like bleeding stomach ulcers.

  1. Having surgery

It is no secret that I am against people having surgery for back pain when there is just degeneration or a disc bulge.

The research clearly points to it doing more harm. People need more operations, more pills and end up becoming disabled too often to make it worth the risk.

  1. Wait another week to see if it’ll get better.

This is definitely the right move when it is the first time you had back pain. If your back pain keeps coming back, again and again, getting worse every time it does. Waiting another week before you get professional help will not work.

Did waiting longer to empty out the Rubbish bin, make it smell less when you did?

I didn’t think so?
